Fort-Liberté is the capital of the Northeastern department. During the 18th century, it was called Fort Dauphin. It was later renamed Fort Royal by King Christophe. It finally got its current name after the reign of King Christophe.
As the capital of the Northeast Department, with 27,000 inhabitants, Fort-Liberte has one of the lowest population density in Haiti.
This city deserves an entrepreneur keen on tourism development. International tourists could easily access Fort-Liberte via Northern Dominican Republic airports.
